West Cork U21A Championship Final:
The Doheny U21A footballers will take on Castlehaven in the
West Cork U21A championship final this Sunday evening in Aughaville at
7.30pm. The Doheny GAA Club hasn’t been represented in the U21 A final
since 2003 when they were narrowly defeated by O’Donovan Rossa in Aughaville.
The Club last won the Liam Farr trophy back in 2000 when they defeated Bandon
in Ballineen. This current team has taken a number of notable scalps on
route to the final in defeating last year’s champions Ilen Rovers & a
fancied Clonakilty outfit in the semi-final of the west cork
championship. Castlehaven will no doubt prove to be very stiff
opposition. The Havens themselves had a very comprehensive win in their
semi-final over Newcestown last Sunday winning on a score-line of 5-16 to 0-06
so a very tight & exciting final is in store. Please come out in numbers to
support our young men next Sunday & it would be fantastic for the Club
& very fitting if the Dohenys team captain Eoin Lavers could get his hands
on his Granduncle’s cup.
