Doheny Notes
Doheny senior footballers are continuing their preparation for there up in coming championship against Ilen Rovers in a few weeks time.
The junior footballers were in action against Bandon last Saturday evening. This was a very good performance by a lot of young players. Jack O’ Connell opened the scoring for Dohenys. Himself and Mark Quinn were too much for Bandon to handle. Dohenys were reduced to 14 men just before half time. Dohenys were well in control at this stage with Bandon playing with the strong wind and only a point up. In the second half Bandon played an extra man in front of Mark and Jack, and this cut out a lot of supply of ball to the forwards. There were defiantly five players that will go on to play with Doheny’s first team in the near future .It was in the last five minutes when Bandon pulled away, it was a good even contest up to then. The Doheny players can feel very pleased with their display having to play the second half with 14 men, tired legs were setting in the last five minutes and this definitely had a big outcome on the final score of 3-10 to 1-7
Team: Aidan O’ Sullivan, Fachtna McCarthy, Micheal O’ Donovan, Donal Rice, David O’ Brien, John Collins, Derek Keane, Declan O’ Dwyer, James Collins, John Healy, Darren Kelly, Barry O’ Donovan, Jack O’ Connell, Donal McSweeney, Mark Quinn.
Sam Maguire Notes
Under 14 footballers were at home to Newcestown on Thursday evening. Sam Maguire’s were in control of this game for 50 minutes. For some reason a lot of the under forthteen have no interest in showing up for matches and training, and this team is made up of most of last year’s under twelve’s.
Under 16 were at home to Ilen Rovers in challenge game. And this was definitely a good work out for the lads.
Under 11 and Under 12 still continue their blitz and let’s go games. These teams have a very busy schedule and are making great progress in improving their skills in footballer and hurling.
Under 13 footballers have one game left in their premier 2 league. This is away to Mayfield at the weekend. To qualify for the place offs of the league they need to come on the right side of the score line.
There was no winner in this week’s lotto. Next week’s jackpot is €4,600.
