U16 Football Championship

Sam Maguires 2-14 Gabriel Og 0-16

 

Playing with the breeze in the 1st half Sam’s were slow to settle in their U16 football championship encounter with Gabriel Og’s  and were 4 points in arrears before they registered their 1st score. However once they started there was no stopping them and buoyed by a goal from corner forward Barry O’Sullivan Sam’s scored 1-09 to lead by 1-09 to 0-6 at the short whistle.

 

A 2nd goal from Barry O Sullivan in the 2nd half gave the boys in green the cushion they needed to see out the remainder of this hard fought encounter. Special mentions to Sean Calnan in goal  who made some vital stops including a penalty save, Sean Daly, Gavin Farr, Padraig Duggan, Gavin Dullea and of course 2 goal Barry O’Sullivan.

 

The U16’s continue their good form with a league win against St Colums on Monday night. Full time Sam Maguires 2-09 St. Colums 1-09.

 

Minor Hurling Championship

 

26/07 Sam Maguires 0-15  v 0-13 Owen Gaels

 

Sam Maguires had to withstand a strong 2nd half challenge from the Ballinascarthy/Plunketts side to eventually prevail by 2 points in this Minor Hurling Championship game played in Clonakilty on Friday night last. Leading by 0-10 to 0-05 at ht the boys in green toughed it out in the 2nd half to get over the line by 2 points at the full time whistle.

 

It was back to the big ball on Tuesday night where Sam’s played out an entertaining 1-10 to 3-04 draw against Castlehaven in the league.

 

 

28/07 U14 Hurling Championship

 

Kilbree 3-10  v 1-3 Sam Maguires

A slow start left Sam’s with a mountain to climb at half time of this U14 championship game played in Clonakilty on Sunday last. The score at the short whistle was 2-07 to 0-1 however the boys in green fought hard and a much improved 2nd half performance saw them eventually lose out to a strong Kilbree side.

 

U10 Hurlers

 

Well done to our U10 hurlers who played some super stuff at the blitz in Diarmuid O’Mathunas grounds on Saturday last. After 3 fabulous games  they narrowly lost out in the final.
