Sam Maguire Club recently held a very successful mid – Summer barbeque for the under 8 and under 10 players in the Sam Maguire Park. They were fortunate with the fine evening which brought a huge number of youngsters to the event. Indeed, it was like the ‘Miracle of Loaves and Fishes’ as hordes of children were fed with sausages, burgers and such, all unhealthy eating but who cared. Chief cook Dickie Forbes along with has many assistants did a magnificent job in satisfying the hungry mouths. The children fed and sent home to bed the adults had an opportunity to relax and treat themselves for a change as evidenced from our photos from the unnamed photographer. An enjoyable evening was had by all and it should be repeated.
