Awards Season

Massive congratulations to Eddie Moloney, our new Doheny GAA Club secretary, who was inducted into the Rebel Og Hall of Fame.  Eddie was Carbery Bord na nOg Secretary from 1982 and only in recent years stepped down from the position.  Eddie was the Doheny GAA Club treasurer for the bones of 15 years during that time period and only in recent weeks took on the role of Club secretary.  Eddie is a fantastic Gael and richly deserves this award.   

 

Congratulations to the Doheny Junior Ladies football team that received the Special Achievement of the Year Award at the West Cork Sports Star awards last Saturday night held in the Celtic Ross Hotel. 

 

U21 Footballers

The Doheny U21 A footballers lost to Glanmire on a score of 1-12 to 2-11 in Glanmire on Saturday evening last in the ¼ final of the Glenville U21 football tournament.  Their attentions now turn to their upcoming championship match with Newcestown on the 1st of February.

 

Dinner Dance

The “Doheny Dinner Dance” takes place in the Parkway Hotel this Saturday the 25th of January at 7.30pm.  The social is celebrating the Doheny Ladies winning the Junior County Championship and the Minor Ladies winning the West Cork Championship.  There’ll be two bands playing on the night Micheal Collins and The Music Makers.  A buffet meal will be provided.  The night will conclude with a disco.  It should be a relaxed and joyous occasion where people can let down their hair and get over the January blues.  Speeches and any formalities will be kept to a minimum as practical as possible on the night.  Tickets priced at €25 & can be sourced through any Doheny Executive member.  This invite extends out to all members of the Dunmanway community & friends of the Club!

 

Lotto

There was no winner of the Doheny GAA Club’s Lotto Jackpot of €11,200 held on Monday night last.  The numbers drawn were 10, 16 & 37.   Consolation prizes went to Marie Minihane, Kilbarry Rd, Fia O’Sullivan, Kilbarry and Emmet Farr, Dun Orga.  The jackpot now stands at a massive €11,400 and the next draw takes place in the Pavilion on Monday next, 27th of January.

The Doheny lotto tickets can be purchased through the usual ticket sellers i.e. Jerry O’Mahony & Paul Murray etc or in the following premises Supervalu, D Oil, Parkview Stores (Gordons), Dunmanway Launderette & Connolly’s Shoe Shop.
