Mairead Mawe | Tuesday 26 July 2011
The Doheny Juniors played the 1st Round of the County Championship against Boherbue recently. On a wet and windy night, playing conditions were far from favourable. Boherbue started well and in the first ten minutes went up 2-4 to no score. Dohenys eased themselves into the game and took some fine points and found themselves trailing by just 2 points heading into the break.
In the 2nd half, Boherbue used the wind to their advantage and Dohenys found themselves struggling to get the ball past midfield. Boherbue ran out clear victors after dominating much of the 2nd half. Final score: 3-13 to 1-7.
In follow up, Dohenys faced a losers round in Kilmichael on Monday last against a Midleton side. Dohenys unlucky streak continued and the girls were beaten on a scoreline of 2-5 to 4-8.
Fixture: the U14's are set to play Bandon away on Friday evening best of luck to all involved.
