There was a lot of playing activities over the past week. On Wednesday night, 27th of March, the Junior A Footballers played our close neighbours Randal Og in a challenge game in Sam Maguire Park. The game ended in a draw, 2-04 apiece. The half time score was 2-02 to 1-02 in favour of Randals. On Thursday night the Junior A Hurlers had their first league outing of the year and performed admirably, beating Kilmeen on a score-line of 2-11 to 1-05 in Sam Maguire Park. The Seniors lost to Rathmore in a challenge on score-line of 0-15 to 0-08. It was a competitive challenge match throughout but Rathmore pulled away midway through the second half due to their superior fitness. The Junior A Footballers played Bantry in the league, away in Wolfe Tone Park, on Saturday losing by a mere point on a score-line of 1-09 to 0-13. The team unfortunately didn’t take full advantage of the strong breeze in the first half. The half time score read 1-05 to 0-04 in favour of the Dohenys. Bantry clawed their way back into the game in the second half and were deserved victors in the end. The Junior A Hurlers were in action again on Sunday in the league away to Diarmuid O’Mathuna in atrocious weather conditions. The game was very stop start with slippery underfoot conditions. The Hurlers failed to capitalize in the first half with the aid of the stiff breeze and were only 1 point up at half time on a score-line of 0-03 to 0-02. Mathunas dominated the second half and ran out victors on a final score 0-09 to 0-05 in favour. The U21 C Footballers lost to Glengarriff on a score-line of 0-04 to 3-06 in the round robin stage of the U21 C Championship in Sam Maguire Park on Bank Holiday Monday. The U21s had an awful start to the game conceding 3 goals in the opening half and were behind at half time on a score-line of 3-02 to 0-03. However the team kept battling on in the second half but couldn’t make up the deficit.
