Doheny senior footballers played St. Vincent’s in their last Kelleher shield game of the season. This game would have been a great preparation for their relegation battle with Valley Rovers but however it wasn’t treated seriously by some of the players. St. Vincent’s went on the win this game comfortably in the end. If the senior footballers have any hope of avoiding relegation they will have to start thinking positively for the next few weeks.
The junior hurlers now know that their opponent will be Ballinascarthy for the semi final of the Junior A West Cork Championship. As records have shown Ballinascarthy have ran up two very high scores on their two last championship matches. They seem to be able to score goals with natural ability.
Sam Maguire Notes
U13 hurlers are playing Rosscarbery in the semi final of the West Cork U13 hurling championship this Thursday at 7:30 in Rossmore.
On Saturday evening at 7:00 in Bandon the minor footballers take on St. Nicks in the second round of the minor championship. This is a big game for the Sam Maguire’s but if they can continue to play the brand of football they have been playing they should be able for the best of them. This is a huge experience for this team as a lot of these lads are minor next year again. The best of luck to all the players and mentors involved.
