Junior hurlers played Kilbrittain on last Friday evening. Doheny’s were short two or three of their first choice players for the start of this game. There was alot expected of the fifteen lads who started. Fair play to them they got out of the traps at a very early stage with Jack O’ Connell and Michael Milner having two points on the board in the space of a few minutes. Kilbrittain responded fast. Doheny’s had two much fire power and Conor Collins scoring a goal gave the team a nice cushion. Points were exchanged by both teams for the next ten minutes. A good work rate from Denis Healy and when the opportunity came his way he took his goal well. At this stage all the Doheny players were working their socks off and went in half time with the score boards reading 2-7 to 1-3 in favour of Doheny’s.

The introduction of Daren Sweetman in the second half gave the team a huge boast. Over the hour Doheny’s were the better team and rarely but a foot a stray.  Not taking away anything from this performance it’s important that players keep their feet on the ground and their head on their shoulders for the next game.  Final score Doheny’s 2-15 Kilbrittain 1-11.

This was an excellent evening for hurling and well done to the Clonakility club for their excellent facilities. This was a very free flowing game of hurling and the referee and his officials did an excellent job.
