Doheny’s junior 3 team were away to Oliver Plunketts in the league on Saturday evening last. The Doheny team was made up with a good blend of young players. These players showed very well for the ball and gave an excellent account of themselves. Conditions were very poor but however they played very good and were unlucky to be beaten in the end.

Senior footballers were in action on Sunday in the first round of the championship against Bishopstown. In the first half they performed very well and took some excellent scores, with Denis Healy and Jerry McCarthy shining in the forwards. Michael Farr gave an excellent midfield performance. Half time score Doheny’s 1-5 Bishopstown 0-2. Dohenys started the second half in high tempo but however failed to transfer their possession into scores. Some good tactics switches by Bishopstown gave them control of the game and eventually ran out winners on a score line of 2-7 to 1-7. However Doheny’s had some great individual performances by Killian Crowley, Conor Collins, David and Tom Collins. Darragh Farr made a good penalty save at the stroke of half time. There’s no doubt this was a game that Doheny’s should have won.

Team: Darragh Farr, Killian Crowley, Daniel O’ Donavan, Conor Collins, Tom Collins, David Collins, Timmy O’ Donavan, Michael Farr, Donal O’ Sullivan, Pat Collins, Stephen Collins, Micheal Milliner( captain), Patrick McCarthy, Jerry McCarthy, Denis Healy.
