The Doheny Junior Hurlers were heavily defeated by reigning champions Kilbree in the first round of the Junior A Hurling Championship, losing on score-line of 2-23 to 0-13 in Enniskeane on Sunday last.  In truth the Dunmnaway side can have no complaints as they were totally outclassed from start to finished by a slick Kilbree side.  The Dohenys got the opening score of the game through the hard working Bill Murphy and this in fact was the only time in the game that the men in green led in the contest.  The first half was somewhat competitive but the Dohenys conceded too many frees & were punished time and time again.  Kilbree led at half time 0-12 to 0-07.  Dohenys needed a good start in the 2nd half and similarly to the 1st half they got the opening score of the half.  However Kilbree immediately responded with a goal which killed the game as a contest.  Dohenys tried hard to break down the Kilbree rearguard but they proved too stubborn.  Kilbreen ran out comfortable winners in the end.

The annual Doheny/Sam Maguire Golf Classic takes place on Saturday June 8th in Skibbereen GC.  This event has been one of the main fundraisers for the adult and under-age clubs over the years and has been very successful financially due mainly to the generous support of its sponsors as well as the support from golfers from far and wide.  If interested in entering a team of 3 players, at a cost of €150, please contact Eddie Moloney 0864112720/Declan Lavers 087-2226959. If you are not partaking in the golf itself but want to support the event you can sponsor a Tee-box at cost of €50.  Please contact the aforementioned or any club executive member.

The Doheny U21 A footballers are fixed to play Charleville in Ballincollig this Saturday evening at 7.30pm in the County U21 football championship.  Please show your support.
