The Doheny Senior footballers got their league campaign off to a winning start with a comprehensive victory over Rockchapel in Sam Maguire Park on Saturday evening last.   The home side hit the ground running from the first whistle & led at half time 2-14 to 1-01 with Mark Buckley and Jamie Carroll getting the first half majors for the Dohenys.  The Dohenys full forward line of Keith White, Mark Buckley and Fionn Herlihy were particularly impressive registering 1-12 between them & with Jamie Carroll popping up with 1-03 from wing forward the Rockchapel defense found the Dohenys forward unit too hot to handle on the night.  Credit to Rockchapel they didn’t throw in the towel and responded positively in the 2nd half but the Dohenys finished strongly with substitute Ray Jennings bellowing the back of the Rockchapel net after a superb approach play and Dohenys ran out deserved victors on a score-line of 3-18 to Rockchapels 2-05.   Up next for the Dunmanway men in the league is an away trip to Bishopstown on Sunday next Feb 10th at 3.30pm.  Team: Stephen Daly, Jerry Farrell, Sean Daly (0-1), Donal Rice (0-1), Declan Collins, Eoin Lavers, Cullan Barry, Johnny Kelly, Cathal O Donovan, Niall Hurley (0-1), Brendan McCarthy, Jamie Carroll (1-3), Keith White (0-3), Mark Buckley (1-2), Fionn Herlihy (0-7) Subs Used:- Gareth Crowley, Jason Daly, Aidan O Donovan, Ray Jennings (1-0), Padraig O Mahony, Cathal Daly, Darragh Collins.
