UNDER 21  FOOTBALL
The under 21 footballers made their exit from the championship on Sunday last in Aughaville but not before they took champions, Castlehaven, right down to the wire in a closely fought and exciting encounter. Fielding a physically stronger side Haven had the edge in the first half and led by 3 points   at the break. A goal by Johnny Hurley early in the second half had Dohenys right back in the game and the Haven led by just a point with just 5 minutes to go. Haven were there for the taking at this stage but it was then that things began to go wrong. Keith Sheehan and were red carded for a bout of wrestling and  midfielder, Aidan Hurley was sidelined immediately afterwards. The supply of ball to the forwards dried up and the Haven took advantage of their numerical advantage to kick two points in the closing minutes. It was undoubtedly a game that Dohenys could have won as 6 of Castlehaven’s scores came from frees, a big plus for the champions when ground conditions made scores difficult to come by from play. Overall the team and mentors can be satisfied with their performances in this championship. A big effort was put into preparations which was reflected in a huge improvement on last year’s display. Hopefully lessons will be learned from the campaign which will stand to many of these players as they go on to bigger and better things in the years ahead.
TEAM: Darren Kelly, Cian Cahalane, Eamonn Freeman, Tom Collins, Tadgh O' Leary, David Collins, Aidan Hurley, Patrick Mc Carthy, Alan Sheehan, Conor Hurley, Finbarr Cronin, Jerry Mc carthy, Johnny Hurley, Brian Mc Carthy. Sub-Denis o' Mahony.

SENIOR  FOOTBALL
The senior footballers played their third game in the K.S. when they travelled to Mallow on Thursday night. The game was played in Mallow’s new state of the art complex. It was not a good night for football as a strong swirling wind made conditions very difficult. Dohenys played poorly in the opening half and trailed by 3 points, 1-6 to 1-3 at the break despit having the benefit of the elements. There was a marked improvement in the second half, indeed there needed to be as they faced into the wind. However, they were still 5 points adrift with 10 minutes to go but finished strongly to secure a share of the points, the final score being Dohenys 3-6, Mallow 2-9.
TEAM: Darren Kelly, Conor Collins, Micheal O’ Donovan, Paul Deane, Kilian Crowley, Tim O’ Donovan, John Collins, Micky Farr, Donal O’ Sullivan, Pat Collins, Michael Milner, Dennis Lyons, Jerry Mc Carthy, Daniel O’ Donovan, Stephen O’ Donovan.

MINOR HURLING
The minor hurlers opened their league campaign on St. Patricks Day with a game against Ahan Gaels, the Mathunas/St. Marys combination. Conditions were difficult with a strong wind favouring Ahan in the first half. The foundation for victory was laid during this period when the backs played very soundly giving their opponents little scope for scores. At halftime Ahan led by just a point, 0-2 to 0-1, which would hardly suffice considering the strength of the wind. And so it was as Maguires picked off the scores in the second period to run out clear winners on a score of 1-8 to 0-3. As well as the backline playing well Maguires were strong in the middle of the field where Alan Sheehan and especially David Collins were in control. Top scorer was Alan Sheehan with 4 points to his credit while sub Brian o’ Sullivan notched 1-2, Jeremy Moloney  0-1 and David Collins 0-1.
Team: Daniel Mc Sweeney, Conor Cronin, Tom Collins, Conor Doyle, Cian O Loinsigh, Gerard Lynch, Jeff Kingston, Alan Sheehan, David Collins, Jeremy Moloney, Kieran Mc Kenna, John Healy, Cathal O’ Sullivan, James Collins, Gavin Sheehan.
Subs: Brian O’ Sullivan, Patrick Lynch, Emmet Monaher.

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL
The under 14 footballers got over the first round of Feile Peil when they had a comprehensive win over Ahan Gaels in Enniskeane on Sunday last. Maguires dominated from the beginning to lead by 4-8 to 0-1 at halftime and were 5-14 to 0-3 ahead at the final whistle. David ring had a brace of goals with Ross Crowley, Brendan Mc Carthy and John Forbes notcing one each. Droumtarriffe will provide much stiffer opposition in the second round in Droumtarriffe on Sunday morning next.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL
The under 16 footballers were away to Castlehaven in the league on Sunday morning last. The early morning start must have got to the players as they never got out of the starting blocks in the first half and trailed 2-7 to 0-3 at the break. They turned in a much better performance in the second half but they had too much ground to make up against a strong Haven side and were trailing by 2 goals, 3-10 to 1-10, at the final whistle. Daniel o’ Donovan had his side’s goal.

There will be a record jackpot in the club lotto this Sunday night when there will be €5,000 up for grabs as there was no winner last Sunday night when the numbers drawn were 8,10, 14.
