U13 Football

A county trophy was brought to the club last weekend as a result of the U13 footballers overcoming Mayfield in the Premier 2 league final. This was a great achievement after a long season and as Mayfield had already defeated them in the county championship. To qualify for the semifinal this team had to win a playoff series of games with Midleton, Eire Og, and Valley Rovers. They defeated Mitchelstown in the semifinal and completed their season on a high note with this victory at C.I.T. grounds on Saturday last. Sam Maguires started the game in determined form and showed showed their supremacy as they led at halftime on the score of 0-07 to 0-02. With ten minutes to go Sams were still in command leading 1-10 to 0-04. Mayfield made a determined effort in the last ten minutes which resulted in they scoring two goals in quick succession. It was backs to the wall play for Sams in the final minutes and they defended heroically to emerge as final winners on the the score of 1-11 to 2-05. This was a great team effort led by goalkeeper Paul O Mahony who made some vital saves during the game. The fullback line of Dillon Healy, Emmett Russell, Jamie White were ably assisted by halfbacks Rhys Coakley, Sean Hudson, Adrian Cronin when all had to hold firm in the final minutes. Centerfielders Mark Buckley( capt.) and Padraig O Mahony worked very hard and insured that the forwardline of  Kevin Murphy,Oisin O Donovan, Keith White, Evan Murray, Owen O Sullivan, Jack Hurley had a regular supply of ball which they used to good effect. Others to play on the day and throughout the campaign were Cathal Kelly, James O Sullivan, James Murray, Killian Farr, Johnny Hourihan. 
The team and dedicated mentors are to be congratulated on a very successful season. 

Munster Final Winners

Our congratulations must go to Morris Murphy and Ross Crowley who were on the Cork Vocational Schools senior football team that defeated Kerry in the Munster final at Killarney on Sunday last. 

A.G.M.

The clubs A.G.M. was held at the Pavilion on Sunday last and the main officer change was outgoing Chairman Jerry O Mahony stepped down after four years of  dedicated service to be replaced by long time serving member Barry Collins. Outgoing secretary Caroline Collins also steped down and was replaced by current player Declan O Dwyer. Lotto Result

The numbers drawn in the weekly lotto draw were 5, 29, 35. There was no winner of the jackpot of €2,600, Prizes of €50 were won by John Crowley, Castle St., Paudie Hurley C/0 Kilbarry Rd., Sean Collins, Main St. The jackpot next week will €2,800 and the draw will be in the Pavilion on Sunday night.
