Though we were still in the month of January last weekend both the senior and U21 footballers were busy preparing for the coming season. On Friday night the senior footballers hosted the divisional side Carbery in the rescheduled  Paddy Minihane Tournament game. Both sides were short some regulars but they still produced a lively open game in heavy underfoot conditions. The sides were evenly matched in the first half and a goal by Pat Collins for Dohenys  at the twenty five minute stage was the difference between the sides at halftime on the score of 1-05 to 0-05. Carbery were on level terms five minutes after the break when the home side conceded a goal. Again both sides were evenly matched exchanging points but Carbery gained the advantage when they goaled at the threequarter stage. The point scored from a free by Alan Sheehan. Further points by Stephen Collins, A. Sheehan (2) and a well worked goal by Jerry McCarthy had the sides level at the halfway stage on the score of 1-04 to 0-07.
