Pride of place this week must go to the Sam Maguire U13 footballers who defeated Rosscarbery to win the West Cork championship. This game was played at Ballineen on Saturday evening last. .Sams played with the wind in the first half and took full advantage leading at halftime on the score of 1-10 to 1-03. The second half was a close contest with Rosscarbery making the predictable fightback however Sams held out for a comfortable win on the score of 2-15 to 3-05. This team is scheduled to play Mayfield , on this Saturday, in the county championship quarterfinal in KIlmurray at 2pm.

Team Of The Month
The U21 hurlers were honoured at the Pavilion on Friday night last when tributes were paid to them by club Chairman Jerry O Mahony, Tim Buckley of Buckley Financial,who sponsored the award, and Chairman of Southwest Board Declan Walsh. David Collins, captain, acknowledged the tributes paid on behalf of the players.
Grand Challenge
As part of the celebration of the 125th. anniversary of the foundation of the club a grand football challenge will be held at Sam Maguire Park on Saturday November 12th. This game will precede a function at The parkway Hotel and will include a selection of club players from the 1993 Southwest and County Junior Football Champions and the present 2011 selection.
