The junior hurlers failed in their attempt to win a Southwest title when they were defeated by Oliver Plunketts on Sunday last. This game was played at Ballinacarriga, in the well prepared venue of the Randal Og club. Though Dohenys started the game well, going ahead four points to one after fifteen minutes, they found themselves in arrears by halftime on the score of 1-06 to 0-07. Oliver Plunketts took control early in the second half and were eight points clear by the threequarter stage. Dohenys reduced the lead to four points but a goal by Plunketts with six minutes to go sealed the win on a score of 2-15 to 0-12. Though obvious disapointment, for those concerned, to be defeated for a second year in a row in a final, positives can be taken from the great strides, made by a small band of people within the club to promote hurling and their day of success is not far away. Team Vincent Healy , Tom Collins, Tadg O Leary, Fachtna McCarthy (captain), David Collins, Jerry McCarthy, Killian Crowley, Michael Milner, Noel Collins, Conor Collins, Donal O Sullivan, Darren Sweetnam, Brian O Sullivan, Denis Healy, Jack O Connell, others to play were Cian Lynch, Kevin O Connell
