The Junior hurlers qualified to play in the Southwest final when they overcame Ballinascarty at Ahiohill on Sunday evening last. Without reaching the heights of their quarterfinal game, against Kilbrittain, they held the lead for the entire game.The halftime score was 7 points to 5. Both sides exchanged points after the break and after Darren Sweetnam scored a great goal midway through the half Dohenys increased their lead to seven points.With time almost up Ballinascarty availed of a lapse of concentration in the Dohenys rearguard and goaled from a 35m free. However when the ball was pucked out the final whistle was blown and Dohenys had advanced to the final on the score of 1-18 to 2-11.There opponents in the final will be Oliver Plunketts of Ahiohill and this game is scheduled for Ballinacarriga at 4pm on this Sunday. Dohenys contested the final last year and narrowly lost to Diarmuid O Mathuna's. They are hoping to go one better this year and bring the title back to town for the first time since 1963
