The
past week saw action for both Sam Maguire’s under 16 and 15 footballers. First
up were the u 15's who travelled to Drimoleague to take on the locals in the
Kilmacabea Invitational Tournament. The first half proved to be an evenly
contested affair with the scores level pegging at halftime on a score 1-5
apiece, the goal courtesy of Alan Brickley . Sams upped the tempo and further
goals from Con O Sullivan and Keelin O Donovan gave the boys in green victory
on score 3-11 to 1-8 . Kilmurry provided the opposition for their second game
and after a slow start Sams ran out victors in what was a good workout for both
sides.
On
Saturday our U 16’s travelled to Limerick to support our much maligned Cork
footballers. First port of call was Mourneabbey where we took on Clyda. An
under strength team put in a good first half performance against the breeze ,
but faded on second half to lose on a score 3-9 to 0-10. Thanks to Clyda for
the great hospitality . The Cork game itself proved to be a wonderful affair ,
and restored our faith in Cork footballers. Thanks to those who travelled with
the lads in what was a great day out .
The
U16 hurlers are in championship action this week v Kinsale in Barryroe at
7.30 Thursday night.
The
Minor Hurlers also take on Bandon in championship on Sunday night at 7.30 in
Enniskeane.
