U15/U16
Over the past week Sam Maguires U 16 & U 15 footballers
both had league games , the U-16s travelling to Balinascarthy to take on Owen
Gaels and the U 15s making the short journey to Kealkil with Colm's U 16
providing the opposition. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half our U
16 were slow to settle and were grateful for a Dara Hayes major to lead at
halftime 1-4 to 0-3. A much improved second half and goals from Kieran Forbes
and Alan Crowley gave Sams victory on a score 3-6 to 0-7 . Best for Sams in a
good workman like performance were Jason Daly , Joe Collins and Jerry Collins .
Meanwhile in Keakil our U 15 got off to a great start with
Kaolin O Donovan netting early on, however two goals on the stroke of half time
gave Colm's a 5 point halftime lead. Despite a second Kaolin goal and
playing a good brand of football the physically stronger Colm's U 16 ran out
victors on a score 6-7 to 2-9. Micheal O Donovan , Con O Sullivan and Micheal
Collins stood out for Sams .
Congratulations to Fionn Herlihy and Eoin Murray who were
selected to play for the Cork U17 team that beat Limerick
in the Munster semi-final on Tuesday last.
