SAM MAGUIRE AGM - (Number of times read: 993)

The AGM of the Sam Maguire club was held on last Monday the 9th of January. Addressing the meeting outgoing chairman Dave O Leary thanked all the various members of the club for their support throughout the year. He wished the club continued success in the forthcoming year and urged all mentors to continue the good work on the playing fields.
The secretary Finbarr O Neill then gave a very comprehensive and detailed report of all activities both on and off the field in the past year and the detailed nature of the report clearly showed the great time and effort Finbarr puts in as secretary of the club.
Joe Kelly provided a report of the years accounts and again which is a great tribute to Joe, managed to balance the books in the current economic climate. Joe did however stress the importance of a renewed effort by all members to help in fundraising activities and collecting membership throughout the forthcoming year.
Tributes were paid to the club president Nan Hurley who sadly passed away in the past year. Nan was a great servant to the club over the years and in particular the great work she did in bringing players to the club from her native Togher and the surrounding parish. Tributes were also paid to club vice president Fr Donal O Donavan who also passed away recently.He was a great support to both the Sam Maguire and Doheny clubs since he retired back from the United States to his native Dunmanway.
Incoming chairman Jerry O Mahony also addressed the meeting and in particular stressed the importance of a member of each selection committee attending the monthly meetings to ensure the efficent running of the club in the forthcoming year.He also congratulated the various winning teams from the past year in particular the county winning u13 & u15 football teams.
