The past week has been a very busy one for the club both at adult and underage level. The Junior footballers took on Carbery Rangers in the first round of the junior league on Monday night last. Played in very dry but freezing conditions the first half was keenly contested. The difference between the sides was a first half Doheny goal scored by Donncha Deasy. The half time score stood at Dohenys 1gl.4pts to Carbery Rangers 4pts. The second half saw the superior fitness of Carbery Rangers coming to the fore and they ran out winners on the score Dohenys 1gl.6pts to Carbery Rangers 1gl.8pts. Paudie Murray and Clement Deane were very solid in the backline. Donal O Sullivan held sway in midfield while Cian Lynch and Conor Hurley were the pick of the forward line.Team: Rory Doyle, Clement Deane, Paudie Murray, Cian Cahalane, James McCarthy, Noel Collins, Killian Crowley, Donal O Sullivan,(1pt) James Collins,2pts.) The Under 21 footballers continue with their preparations for the forthcoming championship game when they played Aghabullogue in a challenge match on Saturday last. This proved to be a useful workout for both teams with Dohenys proving a little stronger on the night. The championship match against Kilmacabea is fixed for Saturday March 20th. The time and venue of the match will be clarified next week.

The Senior footballers were due to play Naomh Abán on Wednesday night in their opening game in the Kelleher Shield. They play their second game against St. Vincents in Cork on Sunday next at 3.00pm.(Check locally for any changes to this game.)

The Doheny GAA Club are delighted to announce that it has secured a 3 year sponsorship agreement with Maybury’s of Dunmanway Buses & Coaches under which the coach & bus hire company has become the club's main sponsor.

At underage level the Minor footballers had their first outing of the year when they took on Youghal in the Premier minor 2 county league in Sam Maguire Park. The sides were evenly matched in the first half when the sides were level. The second half belonged to Sam Maguires and they ran out easy winners of this game on a scoreline of Sam Maguires 2gl.10pts to Youghal 7pts. Feature of the game was a 2 goal blast from Mark Quinn and a great contribution of 7pts. from the boot of Declan Coughlan. Others to play well were Kieran Daly,Kevin Cotter, and Richaed Kingston.Their next game is on Sunday next away to Mallow at 4.30pm.

The Under 16 footballers had a great win away to Clonakilty on Sunday morning. They won on a scoreline of 2gls.6pts. to 2gls.2pts. A full report on this game will appear at a later date. Their next game is on Sunday morning next at home to Newcestown at 11.30am.

The Under 12 selectors are organising a trip to Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday night next to see the Cork v Galway League match. It is hoped to have challenge matches against Nemo Rangers prior to this game on Saturday evening.

The Carbery finals of Scór na bPaisti took place in Ballydehob Community Hall on Friday night of last week. Congratulations to Evan Murray on gaining second place in the Solo Singing category. Also taking part were the Quiz team of Mark Buckley, Emmet Russell & Jamie White. The Rince Seit team included Libby & Annie Blewitt, Rebecca Broderick, Triona Murphy, Laurie Hayes, Marlene Murray, Mary O'Driscoll & Kerri Healy. At this stage of the competition its first prize winners who go forward to the next round,so its congratulations to everyone for taking part & getting to this stage of the competition.

The clubs lotto jackpot of 1800 euro was not won . Next weeks jackpot is for 2000 euro and the draw will take place on Sunday night in Nealums. Winners of consolation prizes of 50 Euros each were  Peter Coomey ,Timoleague     Roisin O Driscoll, Drimoleague and Marie Crowley ,Kilronan.
