Colman O'Rourke Trophy
Tuesday evening last saw the Sam Maguire club host the
Colman O Rourke U 16 football blitz. Four teams participated Aghada, Gabriels,
Canovee and the locals Sam Maguires . The group stage saw Sams lose to Gabriels
by a point and draw with both Aghada and Canovee . As a result Sams qualified for
the plate final where we succumbed to Canovee by 2 points .
In the final proper
Gabriels defeated Aghada 1-9 to 1-3 to run out deserving winners. Again the
tournament turned out to be a great success and proved to be a great tribute to
Colman’s memory .Thanks to both referees Fachtna McCarthy and Connie Murphy as
well as those who provided the welcome refreshments after two hours of
football.
