The junior hurlers were also in action and played a challenge game against Shamrocks which they won convincingly. Their championship game versus St. Marys which was fixed to be played this weekend will be rescheduled due to Cork senior hurlers progressing to the All Ireland semifinal. The U21 hurling championship game versus Kilbree which was billed for early in the week was also postponed.
Darren Sweetnam had an impressive outing with the Cork senior hurlers when introduced for the second half of the All Ireland quarterfinal game against Waterford at Thurles on Sunday last.
U16 Football
The U16 footballers played Aghada in the Premier 2 championship at Ballincollig on Monday evening last. The playing condition were poor due to the heavy rain that fell prior and during the game. Aghada were ahead at halftime on the score of 1-02 to 1-03. Though Sam Maguires gave of their best in the second half they had to give way to a more physically stronger Aghada outfit on the score of 2-08 to 1-04. Team; T. Murphy, J. O Sullivan, S. Daly, D. The numbers drawn in the weekly lotto draw were 18, 20, 37. There was no winner of the jackpot of €4,400. Prizes of €50 were won by Deirdre Hurley Droumdeega, Paula O Leary Knockduff, Oisin Murphy/Hurley Droumdrastil. The jackpot next week will be €4,600 and the draw will be in the Pavilion on Monday night.
